Research Triangle Park, NC October 25, 2014 – Account Executive Travis Goode set out to raise $2,250 at the 2014 Walk to End Alzheimer’s held at the Durham Bulls Park on Saturday, September 20th. Goode exceeded his goal thanks to generous donations from friends, family and Classic Co-workers raising enough to place his team in the top 13 placing Goode as the fourth highest fundraiser in the walk.
As a whole, The Durham 2014 Walk to End Alzheimer's set out to raise $160,000 this year and exceeded that goal due to the 171 teams and 1,267 walkers who participated in and raised funds for the walk.
“It's not every day that we can make a difference in someone's life, or the lives of our children. Through participating in the Alzheimer's Association Walk to End Alzheimer's, we're one step closer to finding a cure to this devastating disease,” shared Goode.
“My father, Stephen "Skeeball" Goode, was diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer's approximately four years ago and from that day on, my relationship with my father would forever change. My father doesn't recognize me nor remembers the thousands of memories we shared. I walk to end Alzheimer's. We must find a cure for this disease. Alzheimer's is the sixth leading cause of death in the United States, and the only cause of death among the top ten that cannot be prevented, cured or slowed. My goal is to bring us a step closer to finding a cure. I'm beyond thankful for each and every donation made on my behalf that can help my dream come true - finding a cure for the disease that's taken my father away.”
